An all-party meeting in Jammu and Kashmir expressed deep shock and anguish at what it called a "barbaric attack".

Nasir Khuehami, head of the Jammu and Kashmir Students' Association, shared a video of a right-wing Hindu group threatening to physically assault Kashmiri Muslim students in the northern state of Uttarakhand to ensure they leave.

Reports said that hundreds of people attended Shah's funeral, including Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who told reporters that the man was killed while trying to stop the attackers.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah distanced his government from the event, saying it had been organised by private entities, and asking local authorities to investigate the matter and submit a report.

The row also moved off social media and a discussion about the show and the after-party caused a ruckus in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly.
