Baker managed Bonds for 10 seasons with the San Francisco Giants, including in 2001 when he hit 73 homers to set the single-season mark.

“That was some Barry Bonds-type stuff there,” said Baker, who managed Bonds in San Francisco.

He managed Bonds through his successful pursuit of Hank Aaron’s all-time home run record, choosing when to rest the seven-time NL MVP and when to push him amid the daily pressures of chasing the record.

“It’s good to see him in baseball. It really is. He’s doing what he wants to do,” said Giants skipper Bruce Bochy, who managed Bonds’ final season of ‘07. “He’s got a passion for it.
