Six hundred and eighteen years from now, when the performance is slated to end, the town of Halberstadt may be flooded, said Rainer O. Neugebauer, a retired social sciences professor who leads the foundation responsible for the piece.

Neugebauer does not know whether the organ project in Halberstadt can physically or financially survive.
