The losing stakes are first raked into the Bank, then the winnings are paid, after which the tourneur again says, "Messieurs, faites vos jeux," and the game proceeds as before.

The tailleur calls the game by saying, "Messieurs, faites vos jeux," when the players stake on the different chances.

"Faites vos jeux, messieurs," said the croupier.

He glanced again at his watch, as the croupiers began to croak their "Faites vos jeux" and gazed moodily round the table, which was now beginning to fill up.
