“The really interesting, and worrying, thing,” Riley said, “is that they saw the same type of kinked tails and cryptorchidism” among Florida panthers.

The almost 7-year-old buck had unusual velvet antlers and was confirmed to have cryptorchidism, a condition that randomly occurs in whitetails causing them to present characteristics of both male and female deer, the agency explained.

But there is the curious fact that when the descent is not normal and complete, in what is called cryptorchidism, the organs are always sterile.
