It’s clear Baber’s team feels the urgency.

Baber is standing up her team and starting strategic planning meetings with community and system partners, and a work group for the youth center.

As for a possible ACC opponent, Baber listed North Carolina, Florida State and Notre Dame — and emphasized that “we’re looking really, really hard at Notre Dame.”

“Basically, we went very strict and found that we could walk it back a little to make it more obtainable for all and still be extremely effective,” said Douglas Baber, city administrator.

The other candidates in the race are Conservative MPs Leslyn Lewis and Scott Aitchison, as well as former Quebec Premier Jean Charest and Roman Baber, a former independent member of the Ontario legislature.
