This Martian dust devil was captured in motion on the volcanic plains of Amazonis Planitia by the HiRISE camera on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter caught this dust devil dancing across the Amazonis Planitia region of northern Mars.

During spring, when Mars is the farthest from the sun, the planet gets less sunlight, but even then dust devils relentlessly scour the surface and move around freshly deposited dust. This dust devil, 30 yards wide, was whirling around the Amazonis Planitia region of northern Mars.
