The University of Washington is an allopathic medical school, whose graduates are doctors of medicine, while the proposed Montana schools would train doctors of osteopathic medicine.

“He is more of a businessman than anything else. To sell his product, he has sparked a fight between allopathic medicine and ayurveda,” Khanna said.

M.D.s who attend allopathic medical schools may also take this same approach, but it is not built into their education in the same way, Klauer said.

“I have different doctors who laugh at the thickness of my files. So, for me I've tried every different version from heavily self-medicating, to formal allopathic medications, to now.”

Prayer was not a replacement for allopathic medicine but rather a way to strengthen the good works already being performed.
